Matt Mochary CEO and Film Director
Matt has a varied background. He completed his first film in 2005, which
he co-directed with Jeff Zimbalist. The film is Favela
Rising and was the co-winner of the "Best Feature Film" award at the
2005 International Documentary Association Distinguished Documentary Achievement
Awards. He is also the founder of Mochary
Programs, a group that provides practical education to youth in under-served
communities; and the Chairman of AEKus Properties,
a family-owned real estate investment company. Prior to these efforts, Matt
was the Founder and Chairman of Totality
Corporation, an outsourced provider of ecommerce application management.
Before that, he was a Partner at Spectrum
Equity Investors, a large private equity firm focusing on communications
investments. And before that, he was an instructor and board member of the
Pacific Crest Outward Bound School.
Matt received his MBA from Kellogg at Northwestern University, and his BA
from Yale University.
Johanna Schaetzke Producer
Johanna manages all film projects and filmmakers at Mochary Films.
With a background in business planning in the corporate world and
grassroots organizing around American social issues, she also serves
as a producer on each film from concept to completion.
Johanna was the Director of Social Outreach for Favela Rising and was
formerly the Community Outreach Director of the New York International
Latino Film Festival. She received her MA in Political Science from
Marquette University and is currently writing her second thesis on
documentary film narrative as an educational tool in underserved
communities for her MA in Latin American & Caribbean Studies at New
York University.
Lloyd Fass Chief Financial Officer
Mark Lee Web/IT Administrator
Mark received his BA from Yale
University and brings IT experience from Net@Work,
a leading New York software company. Mark can also be found in Flushing working as the Job Training Program
Education Coordinator for Korean Community Services of New York.
Carlen Altman Administrative Associate
Carlen Altman, the newest addition to Mochary Films, is
responsible for handling all day-to-day administrative tasks. She
received her B.A. from Oberlin and has prior work experience at
Comedy Central and Stick Figure Productions. Carlen is extremely
passionate about film development and has hosted and helped
develop 2 Webcast series, one about the 4 Elements of Hip-Hop, for
Verizon Wireless, and the other about her fascination with
Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, for NBC Digital. She is currently
working on a series for Vice Magazine's new television station,
ViceTV
Steve Anderson Associate Producer
Steve is a founding member of Mochary Films and is its first Producer. Before
getting in to film, Steve was the Senior Director of Product Marketing at
Microsoft in the Windows Server group; a Partner at the world-renowned venture
capital firm Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield and Byers, where he helped build
several world-class companies; an early team member at Ebay; and an early
member of the management team at Starbucks. Steve holds an MBA from Stanford
University and a BA in business and physics from the University of Washington.

Josh Durham Co-Director
Prior to joining Mochary Films, Josh was an Assistant Director and Assistant
Editor on an HBO-funded film on drug addiction which is currently in post-production.
SAM mESTMAN Co-Director
Sam has been editing since he was fifteen. After attending NYU Film School,
he had been working as a freelance video editor, working on a wide array
of projects from independent film to television and nationally televised
commercials. Currently he is wokring as an assistant editor and cameraman
for the gloves.
